Rockin' & Taping
Now that the electrician has come and gone we started working on repairing sheetrock that was damaged by the leveling of the house or because we are moving walls around.
Nothing too exciting here but here are a few pictures of the progress!
This is the wall we built to close off the old living area to make a bedroom. This means two of the three bedrooms are at the front of the house.
This is the inside view where we will hang one of the original doors on a barn door frame (so we don't take up a lot of room in the bedroom) and it will be directly across from the other bedroom door. You can see the front door open in this picture.
This view shows the entry now that the wall is up for the bedroom---the entry way is very wide and we know wonder if that was because there was a second fireplace somewhere in the front of the house for the living room. The second chimney is right above where the new door is on your right.
This is the back wall that we built because the wall was bowing and it would make it difficult to install cabinets. Now that we know there is a chimney above this area it may explain why the wall is pressing out some. We did shore it up a little more when we installed the windows---but, perfection is not the goal in this game! Functionality will win every time...…. just sayin!
This is the "blue room" that was not original to the house but added on we think in the 50's but haven't been able to confirm that. If you look at earlier posts from the house leveling you will see this room didn't take too kindly to the moving and shaking----it was cracked pretty bad on this back wall.
Let the taping and bedding(sp) begin......
Once we have this step done we will start spraying the "orange peel" texture just to cover up all the imperfections and then we can start painting.
There will definitely be more to come......
