Light & Bright

When we bought the Martin House, we thought we would find more hardwood floors as we peeled back layers of flooring.  But what we found were the original floors from the 20's were not in good enough shape to save without a lot of repairs and replacing of boards.  Somewhere between 1929 and maybe the 70's wood floors were laid over the old wood floors in what used to be the living room.  We turned that room into a bedroom by putting up a wall and creating a designated entryway.  We spent the weekend stripping, sanding, and putting on one layer of the polyurethane. To finish we will let this dry and come back to sand and put one more layer of polyurethane down.

Bedroom floor stripped down to the original wood:

Removing the finish in the entry:

Using another sander to get around the edges:

                                                      Finished sanding--no finish yet:
First coat of polyurethane--looks shinier than it should when dry:

A little more to come........getting closer.......
