Cleaning Up

Wow, it's been a few months since I have posted anything!  After spring break, we had two grandkids' birthdays, a wedding shower out of town, dad's birthday, and umpteen soccer and baseball games!  All important events that you just can't miss but it means work on the house had to wait!

The last room in the house is what will now be the utility room.  Up until now that room has been used for storing all the things we've needed to work on the rest of the house like paint, tools, fixtures, etc.  I'm happy to say that the last room in the house has been redone. I finished painting the walls, ceiling, and the trim after my husband had installed sheetrock and applied the texture.  He then laid all of the flooring, so we were able to move the hot water heater back in and started to work on a sink for the room.

One small problem.  We tried to use the old cast iron sink from the bathroom (which hung on the wall) and hung it in the utility room under the window where the old kitchen sink was.  While we were in the living area picking up to leave, we heard a thud and a very loud bang.  The sink came off the wall and landed on the floor----no surprise to my husband because he kept telling me that that room was added on and the 2x4's were further apart so he didn't think it was sturdy enough.  As usual, he was right so we had to get a stand-up utility sink (not a fan), but it will at least give us an extra sink for now.

We are so close that I can truly see the light at the end of the tunnel. So, what's left? Hanging doors, install floating shelves in kitchen and putting shelves in the closet that will become a pantry in the kitchen.  Then move furniture.  There are two things on the outside to finish and that's closing up the stonework once plumber finishes getting under the house to connect things and fix the railing on the front porch.  Oh, yeah, and fix the step going up the front porch that was removed--you know just a few little things.

Here are a few pictures:

As always, a little more to come.......
